One of the daughters of the Moabits became the Grand-Grandmother of King David, saying:
” Your people will be My people, Your God will be My God! “This commitment by Ruth was the first Biblical conversion of a non-Jew woman to Judaism, called Giyur in Hebrew.
Ruth became the ancestress of King David and first glimmer of hope that people out of the the nations (Christians / pagens) are able to find the way back to the One God of Israel (even as a Moabitess [“a Moabite shall not enter into the assembly of the LORD“] – confer Shabbat Yethro):
