«”You shall not desecrate My Holy Name. I shall be sanctified amidst the children of Israel. I am HaShem Who sanctifies you, Who took you out of the land of Egypt, to be a G-d to you. I am HaShem.” (Leviticus 22:32-33) How can we desecrate G-d’s ineffable name, which is intrinsically holy? And how can we possibly sanctify G-d’s name, which is intrinsically holy? Through our thoughts, our words and our actions, we have the power to desecrate or sanctify G-d’s name, a reality which is infinitely greater than our own.
